A heartfelt thank you...

GOPAR's July 2022 Newsletter

GOPAR extends a huge thank you to Joseph Walsh

When the pandemic hit in 2020, shutting down the performing arts industry, Central Florida theater leaders gathered in a virtual weekly meeting. Recognizing the need to have an organization that would offer emotional and financial assistance to our struggling community, a smaller group of passionate and dedicated volunteers started another weekly meeting.

Out of those meetings, Greater Orlando Performing Arts Relief (GOPAR), was formed, and among its founding members was Joseph Walsh. Hello Dolly, the Garden’s first show that welcomed back masked and socially distanced patrons, was the first production to include a post-show announcement about the work GOPAR was doing. Audiences were asked to help provide assistance to our performing arts community, and they gave generously. Under Joe’s incredible leadership, the Garden Theater has raised more than $16,000.00 over the past two years. We are so thankful to each and every audience member who has contributed, and to Joseph Walsh for his commitment and work with GOPAR. We wish our friend and colleague, Joe, all the best wherever his next adventure may take him.

Finances Transition from St. Luke’s

St. Luke’s Church has graciously handled our finances while GOPAR was working to acquire our own non-profit status. There will be a transition on our website soon so all donations will go directly to GOPAR and no longer go through St. Luke’s website. St. Luke’s will still be a proud partner, offering resources for emotional and mental assistance.
